Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player secured his maiden title for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

Medvedev, a former number one, has experienced a challenging year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in particular - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-term mentor Cervara.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial title since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt after that period of that year.

Victory also signifies he has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters together, so to secure a championship is particularly special," commented ranked player the champion.

"This title is in honour of my child her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in the German tournament in the past months.

His retrieving play style and recurring emotional displays on court had caused observers to question if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.

Yet the player has made changes in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform assertively, supported by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

He defended four early-game chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev broke to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, he earned victory with a rally at the net area, with Moutet incapable to control a return after a lengthy match.
